AdBlue is an exhaust fluid, not a fuel additive. It's stored in its own reservoir and is filled up via a blue filler cap located somewhere on the vehicle. It is the most recognised form of Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) there are others such as Eloys fluid and Pat fluid but these tend not to be refillable by the customer and a garage visit is usually required.

What is AdBlue made of?

AdBlue is a clear mixture of urea and de-ionised water. It is not actually blue at all.

Most people think AdBlue is made of pig urine – it’s not. The urea used in AdBlue is a high purity man-made solution – pig urine wouldn’t be pure or sterile enough for a commercial product.

Most of these faults require main dealer only parts and main dealer prices.
