The DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) is designed to remove soot particles from your exhaust emissions and has been widely fitted to diesel engine vehicles since around 2003.
As with any filter, the DPF needs to be clean and clear to work properly, so it’s designed to empty itself of accumulated soot through a process called ‘regeneration’.
WHATISTHEPROBLEM?
The DPF has to be at an optimum temperature for regeneration to take place, and this can happen when the vehicle is fully warmed up for extended periods such as on longer trips.
If the engine spends most of its time warming up or starting from cold such as in vehicles used for lots of start/stop driving, then the DPF can’t regenerate as it either doesn’t reach its optimum temperature or can’t maintain it for long enough.
This causes the DPF clog up and then it can’t filter the soot properly. The result is a vehicle not only emitting sooty particulates into the air but suffering from a loss in power and excessive fuel consumption.

TheRemovalProcedure
First we remove the internal filter only from the exhaust system, unlike other companies we do not fit a bypass pipe. Instead, we modify the original DPF pipe by cutting a small hole in the top of the DPF, we then remove the internal filter, weld the hole back up and refit the DPF unit to the vehicle.
Once the physical filter removal has been completed the ECU (Electronic Control Unit) is reprogrammed (Remapped) and any DPF related structures removed from the vehicles software. This will ensure the vehicle does not sense the missing filter and will prevent future faults.
This is the most important part of the removal process and it is vital that the ECU is reprogrammed correctly or DPF issues will continue. When carrying out this process we can also remap the ECU for better performance and fuel efficiency
